Our Story
Magnolia Equity Partners was built through years of hands-on experience and grit, developing a deep respect for what it truly takes to own and manage real estate and a disciplined focus on the details that drive outcomes.
We’re twin brothers, Drew and Preston Jones, raised in the DFW area around real estate investing, remodeling, and property management. While our journey may have started at nine years old, planting shrubs and spreading mulch, it eventually led to managing renovation crews, improving underperforming properties, and building businesses rooted in ownership-level accountability. That early exposure shaped how we think about real estate, do the work, sweat the details, and be accountable for the outcome.
Drew Jones began his real estate journey in 2004 at Texas A&M, steadily building and operating a multifamily portfolio that now spans hundreds of units. To support that growth, he founded Near Southside Properties, a vertically integrated management company that only operates assets he owns or holds an ownership stake in, bringing a true owner’s mindset to cost control, operational efficiency, and the tenant experience. In 2023, Drew executed on his long-term vision to scale through capital partnerships by launching Magnolia Equity Partners.
Preston Jones joined the business in 2019, bringing relentless competitiveness and sharp attention to detail. From aggressively fighting property taxes to negotiating best-in-class insurance and vendor terms, Preston simply doesn’t let up, and our investors benefit from it every day.
Today, we compete hard because we love to win; and we love winning together: as a team, for our investors, and for the communities we serve. After years of competing against each other (mostly in tennis and ping pong), we now channel that same drive, along with our shared grit, complementary strengths, and deep operating experience, into a single platform.
